This unspoiled beach lies on the beautiful west coast of the Algarve. It´s for sure one of the most secret beaches in all of Europe. It´s best know as Praia da Figueira, probably got this name because the proximity to  the village called Figueira.
It´s a hidden delight with golden sand protected from wind by high cliffs bathed by translucid waters surrounding by mediterranean vegetation.

Best Time to Visit it?

Well, as secret, it´s never to crowed. But anytime off school holidays should be nice, but i reckon the best months are May, June, September and October, because the weather still hot and are less visitors.

How to Get There?

It´s close to N125 (the national road that connects all coastal algarve from Vila Real de Santo António to Sagres), in the direction to Sagres from Lagos, when you get to the roundabout that connects Parque da Floresta Golf Course (right turn) and Salema Village (turn left), you need to get the Salema way. After you get out of the roundabout you turn right and keep straight ahead until you find the Figueira Village. Inside the village you need get the second turn (a very narrow road) at your left. Follow this road till you see two ponds in the middle of the farm plots. That´s the far you can get by car, you will find some space to park. Then you need to make the rest of the path by foot, it´s only half of mile through a little path in the middle valley (beautiful walk through the local vegetation and nature).
If you got a GPS in you vehicle  just use the following coordinates: 37º03`39.8" N - 8º50`22.2"W

Tips:
There is no infrastructures, life guard or restaurants on this beach so it is better to take plenty of water and food if you stay the day over.
It is wise to leave a bit before sunset because there is no illumination on the path and the way back can be tricky at dark.

Keep this number 112, it is the Portuguese emergency number, just in case.

Have fun...and keep it secret ;)
